Help us fundraise through Just Giving

There are many ways in which you can become involved with the Phoenix community and help us to thrive and develop our services further.

  • Spread the word – we have an active social media presence.

  • Volunteer your time – regular, occasional or short term arrangements can all be accommodated

  • Donate – we always need money, but are also very appreciative of donated goods, such as seeds and bulbs for our kitchen garden, printer paper and kitchen equipment. We would also love to hear from any company or organisation who would be interested in sponsoring us – you will, in addition to receiving our gratitude and thanks, be added to our sponsors page, with a link to your website.

  • Fundraising assistance is always welcome, either by organising events, or joining in with ours, for example shaking a bucket at Strawberry Fair.

Volunteer

Volunteers are a vital part of life at Phoenix, supporting co-workers in all areas - kitchen, garden, concrete factory and woodsheds.

Experience is not essential, but patience is, along with strong communication skills and a desire to help and motivate others.

It is wonderful when volunteers bring skills and expertise, but equally the Phoenix team are happy to share theirs, recognising that for some, volunteering is a stepping stone towards employment, as well as being an enjoyable and worthwhile activity in its own right.

Volunteers usually work on-site, but we would also love to hear from you if you have ‘back office’ experience and would be happy to be a home-based volunteer, coming in occasionally to ‘touch base’ with us. Assistance with fundraising, advertising and promotion is particularly welcomed.

We provide site-specific training where necessary and a free two course meal is available at lunchtime. All on-site volunteers are required to have an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (previously CRB).

If you are interested in volunteering at Phoenix, then please do contact us to arrange a time to visit and learn more.

Fundraising & Funding

Like many small charities, finding time to fundraise can be tricky, but at the same time is essential.

Consequently, we are always delighted when others do it on our behalf! Over the years, people have generously undertaken a variety of activities for us, sponsored running, walking, swimming and cycling, baking cakes, washing cars, and much more.  Other ideas include:

  • If you are a business open to the public, such as a shop, hairdresser or garage, then please consider having a donation box.  We are very appreciative of the support we receive from the customers at  Cambridge Local (Emmanuel Street),  through our donation box at their till.

  • Alternatively, you may be looking to put on an event, such as an auction or quiz night? Perhaps we can tempt you to make us your chosen charity? We can fully support you in advertising and promoting, raising both your profile and ours.

  • If you are a special interest group, such as a gardening society, you could fundraise for something relevant. For example, the kind residents of Marion Close, in addition to nurturing plants for us to sell, held a coffee morning to raise money for some much needed plant watering trays.
